Four years ago I attended a Macrame workshop in Finland with my sister Minna. Rope we used seemed stretchy and difficult to measure accurately. Lengths of rope were awkwardly long and hence challenging to work with. And then there were the Knots: square knot, lark’s head, half hitch, double hitch, spiral knots…I was in a knot.
It wasn’t until about a year later when I truly became to love Macrame and the possibilities it creates for jewellery, clothing accessories, furnishings, plant hangers and more.
Creativity of this craft is also wonderful; you can go for symmetrical or very wild, fancy or very stylish, you can also experiment with different materials.
In short, if you have not tried it yet, this might just be your chance to have a go, you never know what it will lead to.
