Any leftover yarn was used to make these little cute Christmas tonttus when there was a shortage of materials and life used to be about making most of what you had. I have used a wooden or felt ball for the heads and red felt for the hats. Tonttus look lovely in pairs or several of them strung together into a garland. Yarn tonttus are about 13cm high and 7cm wide.

You will get to make at least two in three hours. And then if you wish, continue making them at home.
